TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Since I (my picture shown below at the dinner table touching a chair) was elevated to senior level of my IEEE membership in August 2008 (from Ottawa Section, I was 13 years younger at that time) many people I came across had a difficulty in understanding it. For many, word Seniors (when used/heard out of context) means over the age of 65. I used to give an example to explain that even High Schools have seniors (students) grade wise.
My original section of membership is IEEE Dhahran section in Saudi Arabia where I joined IEEE in 1989 when I was working on a contract with Research Institute of KFUPM. It was before the event of my life when my newly (at that time in 1989) married wife Imrana joined me in Dhahran.
A screenshot taken from IEEE hamilton Section below explains very well what Senior member means.
One location of Wendy’s in Hamilton offered me seniors discount (because I am senior member of IEEE), I asked if they have same offer for the Senior High School students as well. Regardless of the response I declined the offer.
Following picture of mine was taken in November 2017 on the occasion of IEEE Hamilton Section Annual General Meeting at RBG in Burlington.
PS: in 2020 I decided not to renew my IEEE membership and affiliated societies due to lack of money (and lack of usefulness in some societies, in my personal opinion, businesses who benefit from IEEE work may have a different opinion).
